Understanding the Equalise Dimensions Feature
The Equalise Dimensions feature in the Advanced Grid Builder ensures that elements within your grid have uniform height or width. This is helpful when the content varies in size, providing a tidy and consistent appearance for your layout.
How the Equalise Dimensions Feature Works
The Equalise Dimensions feature has three options for each of the Title Heights, Content Heights, Cell Heights, and Inline Column Widths:
- Same Row/Column: This option equalises dimensions only within the same row or column. For example, all titles or contents in a particular row will share the same height or width, while those across different rows or columns may differ.
- All Cells/Columns: Selecting this option means that every title, content, cell, or inline element in the entire grid is given the same height or width. The dimension is based on the tallest or widest element present in the grid.
- Off: When this option is set, no equalisation happens. Each title, content, cell, or inline element maintains its natural size, determined solely by its content.
Without equalised dimensions, your grid might appear uneven due to the different lengths of titles and contents. Here’s how your grid might look without equalised title heights or inline column widths:
When equalised title heights are enabled, all the cells appear more uniform, as all titles in each row will be sized the same. Here's an example with equalised heights enabled:
Inline Columns Widths
The inline column widths feature is beneficial when working with tables to ensure equal widths between fields in the same row. This can be paired with the max field width
setting to force longer content, such as excerpts, to wrap if they exceed a certain size. For instance, without inline column widths:
And when inline column widths are set to the same column size:
