The Search Field feature in the Advanced Grid Builder (AGB) plugin introduces a dynamic text box above the grid. This allows users to filter grid content in real-time. The functionality of the Search Field is controlled through the following modes:
- None: This option deactivates the Search Field feature.
- Live Mode: In this mode, the grid automatically updates to reflect the search criteria 3 seconds after the user stops typing. It negates the necessity of a separate search button, enhancing the user experience.
- Submit Mode: This mode requires the user to manually initiate the search by pressing the search button.
Live Mode, by providing instantaneous feedback as the user types, offers an improved user experience by eliminating the need to click a submit button. However, due to its automatic updating feature, it may have more significant performance implications compared to Submit Mode.
Integration with Filter Widget
When activated concurrently, the Search Field and Filter Widget work in tandem to refine grid content. This combination applies an ‘AND’ condition to the query, enabling more precise content filtering.
Efficient Content Updates with AJAX
Independently of the chosen mode, the grid content is updated using AJAX calls. This approach ensures that content refreshes occur seamlessly and without the need to reload the entire page, providing a smooth and uninterrupted user experience.
